I have to leave the property — can the tradesperson carry on without me?

That's between you and the tradesperson. If you're happy for them to carry on without you on site, record the agreement in Get Trady messaging (so it's timestamped) and make sure they have a safe way to lock up. There's no Get Trady rule against it — but the messaging trail protects you both.
