I have to leave the property — can the tradesperson carry on without me?

That's between you and the tradesperson. If you agree they can carry on without you on site, document the agreement in Trady messaging (so it's timestamped) and make sure they have a way to lock up safely. We don't have a rule against it — but the messaging trail protects both of you.
