When am I actually charged?

At the moment you confirm the booking. Your card is charged and the funds move into escrow with Stripe — they're not in Trady's bank account and they're not with the tradesperson yet. The tradesperson is paid only after you've reviewed the completed work and either approved it or let the review window pass without raising a dispute.
