Build the evidence as you work, not after a dispute arises. Helpful items: Timestamped photos at start, mid-point and completion; Trady messages confirming what was agreed, especially for any scope changes; receipts for materials; time logs showing when you were on site; any third-party invoices (parts, subcontractors).
